Any takers for a chocolate-flavoured kiss with a hint of orange? These nut-free little bite-size goodies are nutritional powerhouses in a very small package thanks to the pumpkin seed which boasts a wide variety of nutrients ranging from magnesium and manganese to copper, protein and zinc.

I made these with my youngest daughter who was literally licking the bowl. Her entire face was covered and if you’d have gone too close you’d have run the risk of getting a chocolate orange kiss of a completely different nature!!!

Chocolate Orange Kisses

Recipes / Sweet

180 g (1 ½ cups) dates, pitted

120 g (1 1/2 cup) oats, finely ground

100 g (3/4 cup) pumpkin seeds

20 g (1/4 cup) raw cacao

20 g (2 tbsp) coconut oil

3 drops orange oil

zest of one orange

Allow the dates to soak in hot water for a minimum of ten minutes.

Place ingredients, including the dates, into a food processor one after another and blitz until combined.

Spoon mixture into forms (we used the heart-shaped ice-cube tray) or roll into balls and allow to chill in the fridge for a minimum of two hours.

Store in an airtight container for up to seven days or freeze for up to three months.
